Could It Be ADHD? Signs in Children, Teens, and Adults

Many people think of ADHD as simply having trouble paying attention. In reality, ADHD can affect organization, time management, emotional regulation, motivation, memory, and daily functioning.

In children, ADHD may appear as difficulty following directions, careless mistakes, forgetfulness, excessive talking, fidgeting, or trouble staying focused at school.

In teens, symptoms often become more noticeable as academic demands increase. Missing assignments, procrastination, poor time management, emotional frustration, and inconsistent performance are common concerns.

In adults, ADHD can look very different than it does in childhood. Many adults struggle with chronic disorganization, difficulty completing tasks, forgetfulness, restlessness, losing important items, or feeling overwhelmed by daily responsibilities. Some adults are not diagnosed until their own child is evaluated.

ADHD symptoms can also overlap with anxiety, depression, sleep disorders, and other mental health conditions. A comprehensive evaluation can help determine what may be contributing to symptoms and identify appropriate treatment options.

New Insights Behavioral Health provides ADHD evaluations and medication management for children, teens, college students, and adults age 10+ throughout Connecticut through secure telehealth appointments.
